Producing an outdoor Shakespeare event in regional North Queensland was pioneered by Jean-Pierre Voos who produced and directed the first event with his professional company, TROPIC LINE in 1992. Twelfth Night featured members of the professional ensemble alongside final year Theatre students from JCU as well as the best performers from within the local community. It is this combination of professional, emerging and community actors that TheatreiNQ embraces, driving the continued success of the event and the audience's proud ownership of its long successful history.
THE JEAN-PIERRE AWARDS
The Jean-Pierre Awards began in 2011 to celebrate and honour the people who have championed the Shakespeare Under the Stars event. There are currently 3 awards, that are given out each year by TheatreiNQ's Artistic Director, Terri Brabon. Each award is named in memory of members of our Team; The J-P Award,
the John du Feu "Legend" Award & the Martin Gibson Medal.
The awards are hand-crafted by Raku artist, Gerry O'Connor.
